Re: 3CX White Cab Restoration Madness & Questions
Hey, I don't think I can underestimate how much of a basket case this thing really is, it's only fit for scrap really, but the 'dream' of having a fully functional 3cx that's handy to roam about the place in is too much to surrender, and I'm not a man to shrink from a challenge... dogged determined,...

I know I should probably give up and call the local scrap merchant to come get her, but my general opinion on this stuff is they dont m...

Re: 3CX White Cab Restoration Madness & Questions
Because i am an idiot, moving the thing at night with the bucket off, the front bucket swivel arms dug into the ground and bent both swivel arms badly and the brackets that hold them. Anyone any experience in straightening hydraulic arms or is it a throw them in the scrap metal corner, get them rebu...

Re: 3CX White Cab Restoration Madness & Questions
Hi Chaps, Just a brief update with pics to follow. I doubt anyone has tried to bring something as rough as this back to life. Basically everything about the machine is rotten. - Cab floor has about five or six holes that need welding. - Can itself is missing most glass and the bottom of the B pillar...

Re: Leyland 498 Rebuild - a few questions
Folks, sorry for the thread hijack! I'm similar to the above poster and rebuilding a 4/98 Leyland out of a JCB 3CX 1981. It's gotten incredibly smoky to with a noticeable tick to the point you can barely breathe when it's running in a fairly open shed so I suspect it's either a stuck valve, rings ar...

Re: 3CX White Cab Restoration Madness & Questions
The Hymacs of the 580D era have a similar coupling in the lever control and taking out the slop makes a huge difference. I would run through all the oil levels and preferably change the engine and what you can of the torque con and shuttle. Absolutely EP. Sound advice and well stated. I have a feel...
