Re: Primer Choice

For any sort of metal, I'd go for the UPOL acid etch primer from Halfords. The one in the red can. I've used this on styrene in the past to give a key, then gone over with a coat or two of normal primer before rubbing down and top coat.

Re: Some 'heavy metal' photos

No, they're all the same - got a very long 'to convert & detail' list which seems to get longer not shorter!.

Think I must be obsessed - I'll be on that hoarders programme next!

Re: RH120c Model Project

Yes, I made a few moulds to diecast certain parts myself - mainly the air cleaner parts, rear vents and track motors although they are a bit big (big fingers and fiddly parts don't mix). Making the moulds was initially a bit trial and error and wasted quite a bit of RTV101 resin in the process!. I f...

Some 'heavy metal' photos

Decided to have a bit of a sort out in 'storage facility #4' aka the shed, to free up some more room to get more in. thought that while I was at it, I may as well take a few snaps. I know the backdrop isn't very inspiring, but it is what it is... Storage Facility 4 http://www.classicmachinery.net/fo...

Re: RH120c Model Project

Hi Dave, Hopefully some help. 1) Unfortunately there aren't any commercially available kits to convert the face shovel to a backhoe 2) You could have a go at making your own decals in MS Visio or some other proprietary image software and print them out on decal paper - this will be difficult with wh...

Model Collection Insurance

Hi, Not sure if this has been done in the past, however having just received our annual home buildings and contents insurance renewal it struck me that my collection appears not to be fully included under personal effects, or at least not to a reasonable level of value. I have decided to investigate...

PS - if you do manage to find out the right code or something near, I'd be interested to know what it was too!

Thanks

Re: Taylor woodrow

Hi Andy, Have you thought about taking a photo along to an automotive paint supplier. I use one locally who will always spend some time to get a mix just right. I pay a premium price for the rattle cans he makes up over the likes of Halfords, but I'm happy as the colour is just right for me. Had thi...

Liebherr R996 Backhoe Mount Owen

Hi, Enough is enough - i've decided we need to see some more mining models. So here are just a few pictures of the latest conversion carried out for me. Most people will know by whom. Made to sit alongside the face shovel which was completed a few years ago. Hope you enjoy as much as I do!. No apolo...
