Re: Ransomes T51D/951D Batwing Mower, losing power under Load

Is the mower hydrostatic drive? Could be that the filters are blocked under suction load going up hill and draining the power of the engine trying to drive it forward hence no problem when on flat or going downhill as there is not as much demand on fluid to drive it? Could be a stab in the dark as I...

Re: Benford 150 dumper

I would pull it out of the dumper, I changed stuff while I was down that far like the main shaft and I had to change 1st gear as I said but also new gaskets bearings etc i think I used L&SPLANT engineers who were really good will try and post some pics

Re: Benford 150 dumper

I've just done a newage 40'm gearbox with the exact same symptoms! There's a bearing on the front end of the box which wears and then allows the main shaft to lift giving the problems with 1st and 2nd but ok into 3rd, took the box out and had to rebuild the casing as the bearing had worn away and wo...

Re: Liner Roughrider 1250

Fair play to you Andy that is one tidy restoration on the dumper and another piece of machinery given a new lease of life and will live on rather than face the old gas axe and end up in a tin of beans!!!

Re: Villiers mk15 engine manual

Villiersparts are useful for some stuff but Paul Child of Meetens.co.uk is "Mr Villiers" . Meetens have been the "go to" place for all things Villiers since before WW 2 This may be of use https://www.dropbox.com/s/kywpt1l3ef4wcdk/Villiers%20Mk15%20user%20manual0001.pdf?dl=0 Than...

Re: Dumper engine gearbox. What dumper is this from?

Looking at it it could have been used as a winch or bosons wheel, the reduction box I'm not familiar with, but the lister and newage box could have been off any dumper from the 60 70 80 decade?

Re: Villiers mk15 engine manual

Cheers Fred, stripped it right down, valve guide was broken hence the exhaust valve stuck open, lovely bit of engineering for the 4 stroke engine built in Wolverhampton

Re: Classic pictures Updated 29/09/2018

The rams on that Bucyrus Erie track loader look like they would lift 40tons and yet the bucket is spring loaded, loving the old photos steve Yes Ian, That's because hydraulics were in their infancy. Most early BE dozer hydraulics I worked on operated at only 1,000 to 1,250 Lbs. pressure so they nee...
