Battery for my 1957 Ferguson FF30 DS

Hi everyone, I need a new battery for the Fergie it has a 12v 88ah 760a one on at the moment which is very old and won't take a charge. Should I replace it with one similarly rated or does anyone have any advice for a better or different rated one. Thanks as always - Jerry

Re: Massey FF30 DS oil leaks + flail

Hi Rob, yes the pto guard is a good idea, I'll look into it and yes I have an adaptor to go from the smaller Fergie shaft to the larger flail shaft.

Re: Massey FF30 DS oil leaks + flail

Thanks Rob, I thought that was the case but wanted to check. I'll just have to dismount the shaft to move around with the flail lifted but no problem - I'm really pleased with it and it'll get lots of work both her and at some of the properties we look after! Not sure of it's age but it's in good ni...

Massey FF30 DS oil leaks + flail

Hi, an update on my Fergie - haven't had the time to take it apart to change the oil seals but a couple of cans of oil leak stuff has helped so it'll wait till the winter - but thanks for all the advice. I've bought an old Sovema flail mower for clearing scrub - I'm pleased with it and it works very...

Re: Ferguson FF30 DS 1958 oil leaks

Not my modifications but it has a starter button (no key) starts very well but the pre-warmer takes a while so patience is the key! Thanks for the tip on the gearbox dipstick and now I've found it it's perhaps not as bad as I first thought as it's exactly half way between the two (max/min) Yes the c...

Re: Ferguson FF30 DS 1958 oil leaks

Thanks for the advice so far - here are some more pictures, I live in Brittany France and parts are easy to get here or Agriline will send the from the UK. I'm not intending to do a full restoration as it's going to be a working machine on our small-holding - but we do have a few tractor rally's aro...

Re: Ferguson FF30 DS 1958 oil leaks

Thanks for the replies, so although the oil has leaked from the drain with the split pin it's actually a leaking input shaft seal?

Ferguson FF30 DS 1958 oil leaks

Hi I'm new to this forum but would love some help with my Fergie's oil leaks. I've had the tractor for a few months but took it on it's first rally last Sunday here in Brittany, France and during the day I noticed an increasing oil leak. On inspecting the underside it appears that most of the oil is...
