Re: JCB 3C mk1 hoses
Sounds like I need to start cultivating some new friends... the nearest farmer I know is in Derby 100 miles away and he is the only person I know with and heavy machinery. I live in the heart of the City with an amazing little field hidden away... lots of builders but no local farmers. I know I can ...

JCB 3C mk1 hoses
I am looking at my digger and would like to treat it to a few service/maintenance bits over the next year... while still enjoying the fact it starts and does what it is supposed to any time I ask. Bare in mind this is a survivor with no ambitions to ever become a show girl and I am living on next to...

Re: Urgent help needed... won't start
That might explain why there is so much room for the massive single battery... You could put a suitcase in there easily. Waiting for some drier weather before I clamber over the digger again but at least I know what I am looking for now.

Re: Urgent help needed... won't start
Thanks for that, makes sense and it is the cheapest option too. I will have a good look, take some photos and try and source a replacement... I suspect there are lots of similar ones for all types of older vehicles but unlikely to find an original new old stock for my 1964 machine. I will focus on g...

Re: Urgent help needed... won't start
It started first time today... this is definitely a case of the battery acting (or being) discharged while running and taking a few hours to recover. Knowing it is a brand new battery and the same thing happened to the original (which is now charged and perfect) the fault has to be with the Dynamo t...

Re: Urgent help needed... won't start
I had the battery tested at the suppliers... they said it was fine just low and needed charging up.. sat around for 6 hours before putting it on trickle charge overnight... should be fine.

Re: Urgent help needed... won't start
Definitely Dynamo and voltage regulator not Alternator.. Positive earth too. Can't say I have tried touching the battery while it is running. I have a lot of things to try in the morning... and starting with checking all the wires are still in place and then putting a volt meter on the dynamo.. alth...

Re: Urgent help needed... won't start
That makes sense... the kind of answer I was looking for. Now How do I test it? I got a jump start and have driven it off the lane into a neighbours garden (very temporary solution). I am suspicious that given a long rest the battery seems to recharge enough to start it... Anyway I have put the orig...

Urgent help needed... won't start
Got the JCB 3C down here to Bristol yesterday and it started and drove fine off the lorry. Started this morning OK and after an hour or so I noticed the idiot lights glowing (Gen being one) I shut down for a while and when I tried to start it the battery was way too flat. Had to buy a new one £85......

Re: JCB Steering wheel
That's really helpful.. I guess my 64 3C is a Fordson base model... I can see the modern style steering wheels (any fitting) are not often seen for sale at bargain prices... I may have to get creative.
