Re: VOLVO EC 380 E HR

I think that old trailer is cool. Seems to handle it well. But then if its old I tend to be a bit favorably biased anyway.

Great pictures. Thanks for posting them and I look forward to more when you do the tour. Take your gloves, you just might get a little seat time.

Re: CMN Photo Competition October 2015

I spent most of the birthday in the woods playing with my 1970s Gafner Iron Mule 1501 forwarder today. I was moving popple (Aspen) to the landing. Its goes for pulp wood to make paper and fiber clothes. A fun and relaxing day until the 40 degree rain drove me out. It is built on a Ford chassis with ...

Yes it is. The picture discription was a bit of a tease to see whom noticed. Its a DW6 with a Balderson blade. Runs great. Just hard to move with one front tire missing and the other flat.

This was an less than perfect weekend trying to get a rather rare flood water Caterpillar to an island so we can recover it the rest of the way across the ice next winter. Everthing we needed to drag it was paddled out in a 12 ft boat. Oh, did I mention that it was on three wheels with the left fron...

Re: D 7 fitted with a V 8 Cat power unit

Must have had an issue that it was hard to start with the pony. They were typically very reliable if the instructions in the operators manual was followed. We did and still can start them at -30 F with good luck. Takes twenty or more minutes to warm up the main on the pony but we use no ether. The o...

Re: driving scrapers on road

Right at the end when I was turning into my driveway I was in 5th gear and rolling fairly along and it wouldn't turn sharp enough which caused me to brake quite hard. I had forgotten about the "cowboy" safety that limits the amount of steering when above 3rd gear. Had to almost stop and sh...

Re: Backhoe Parking Position

On all my old antiques I always try to lay the boom and bucket flat out and have the cylinders retracted when ever possible while still being safe. Its keeps the chrome rods from getting rust on them in our humid climate. Of course this has no bearing on machines that get used often.
