Does sound like more of a valve issue though.

Re: Unknown dumper.

Dinly.
The skip on mine was out of line by a good 2 inches vertically, had to cut, repair, and shut to fix it, the repairs are also on Winget 4s posts.

Re: Unknown dumper.

I think it was riveted to one of the mudguards, I think engine covers depend on model, mine was supposed to have one
but there's no evidence of it.

Re: Unknown dumper.

Yes I have the original brass plate somewhere and you're right about the manuals, they seem to show them all with angular ( mudwings ) as the books call them. I'm hoping to start the reassembly soon. The 4s is fitted with the twin cylinder Petters.

My Winget 4s has virtually the same arches as yours, see my posts on Winget 4s.

Re: Hunslett shunter

Yes Wayne, it has been heated and beaten. Every moveable linkage on that Loco's braking system is (was) seized. There are only 2 grease points in the whole system. they're on the main brake crank, and they were the worst ones to free. Don't think it's been lubed since year of manufacture(1960)
