Re: Fiat Someca 615 DT Information Please

My memory isn't much good these days, but I worked beside Don Mizzi cane harvesters for many years, they sported a Fiat tractor with axle extension. Early harvesters had smaller tractors, I'm told the one my uncle had was a 513 but I'm pretty sure different series of Fiat, perhaps a 650, but later o...

Re: What product can one use for internal tank and gearbox coatings?

Thanks ... I'd tripped over POR already looking about the web, kreen's sealer I had not, but both have pricing that ... reflects the "ready made solution" for the automotive market. Kreen's product pricing is similar to aerospace products as far as I can tell ...

What product can one use for internal tank and gearbox coatings?

So what does one use? This question comes up as I've hit an interesting problem here in Australia. I used to be able to get a resin type product for coating fuel tanks (it was red) and I think an air cured epoxy type for gearbox coatings. I've not been doing much the last 15 years, so I was floored ...

Re: 1983 JCB 3CX Water Flood damage Help advice URGENT

Sorry to hear about your troubles ... I had figured most people had an idea what was headed towards the south coast, but I think the news might be just a bit quieter down your way on the subject ... don't want to put tourists off. I know it's wet down that way but news isn't exactly reporting rainfa...

Re: Dumper bucket holes

The problem with anything, the inexperienced can't tell what's hype and what's not. Then again I hear a fair bit of hype even from those who've been welding (though not professionally) for years. I started off with the occasional rubbish weld, but when I started I had no one I could ask for what I s...

Re: Dumper bucket holes

Jeremy's idea of hiring in a welder is a good idea, when someone says "mig" one doesn't know if they mean 200 amps max at say a reasonable 60 percent or better duty cycle or 130 amps max at 20 to 40 percent duty cycle ... including bonus jumper battery leads that are almost 100A on a good ...

Re: Dumper bucket holes

Jeremy advice is probably more on point with his familiarity with such equipment and knowing what sort of steel is on offer in the UK. Australia it's more a situation of sol most times, and hope to find some offcuts from those industries that purchase / import their steel sheets. Being a small bucke...

Re: Dumper bucket holes

If the holes are few and small from rust from sitting, layering works with a mig (thick block of copper under the hole anti splatter coated to hold the weld pool as it spills downwards - for the first initial layer) ... but it has worn thin the better option is replace with a new sheet. The cost of ...

Re: Cleaning injector tips: Good or bad idea?

Nice and compact and 6 adapters, worth it. The one from link posted probably have a shut off so one can test for leakage, just my eyesight is poor these days. Hardest part using an old jack is fixing the valve (replacing it) if it's been a bit leaky. I recall some days spent chasing down the brass v...
