Re: JCB 3CX - Only one movement at a time, is my pump shot? - Now with pics!

Nice machine. That looks like 2 m3 of timber, should weigh about 1.5 tons if wet. Shouldn't be a problem for your back actor. Lifting your machine is a very nice test to see if it lacks power and if everything is sealed nicely (if not the machine will drop by itself slowly to the ground in about few...

Re: powertrain gear change

ATF fluid is specially designed for torque convertors, been using it for years and no problems. Torque converters are based on fluid wedge theory so using a denser fluid can be more damaging than using a less dense one. While using too dense fluid can cause sever mechanical damage to the converter, ...

Re: JCB 3CX - Only one movement at a time, is my pump shot?

Before you add the oil, check the mesh inside the tank leading to the pump. Some machines have it. For that you need to open the inspection hatch on the side of the tank the pump gets it's feed from (normally on the right side facing fwd). Before you do that it's good to empty the tank and intercept...

Re: powertrain gear change

Check oil level and quality in the transmission (correct oil - original or automatic transmission fluid). Inspect the filter element and the filter mesh. When you force the gear does it make a sound? The correct procedure of changing gears in your machine is: If you are out of gear, hold down the br...

Re: JCB 3CX - Only one movement at a time, is my pump shot?

Relief valves are located under your valve block. They are protected by cylindrical casings. To test the oil pressure there are special probing connectors at each valve block. Try to get the service manual, it will tell you exactly where to hook up the gauge and what operation to do with the actor t...

Re: Jcb 3cx on eBay

I've seen it here before too. It was about half a year ago, some1 was doing a restoration job on their 3cx and was posting images as he got along. I'm sure of it because the picture of the rear boom arm extended on eBay is the same as he posted it here. It's a job well done, I'm an owner of a greyca...

Re: Fuel tank cleaning

Removed the dash already but no access, there are only connectors. With cars, the sender is on top of the tank simple to replace, but to get to the tank from the dash i would have to remove all the wirring to the dash and alot of plastic parts which i want to avoid.
