Cat 983 wanted

Looking for a 983 to work in the Cameroon. Neil Beecher is alive and well and has a contract that really could do with a 983 or two. I believe he has sourced one in North Wales, and I believe there are even a few already in the Cameroon. I would not expect the condition of those to be anything to wr...

Re: Chaseside

Preserving it is about all I have done really. It is mostly a cosmetic restoration. I would have loved the time, the premises and the equipment to dismantle and rebuild it more mechanically. However I will try and maintain it in as good a condition as I can. It will not be worked particularly hard. ...

Re: Chaseside

Nearly there. A quick splash of paint, and hammered out the bonnet as best I could. It is better than before, but in reality totally misshapen. I need to weld in a piece between the top and the front, where it just does not meet. The ram seal on the other side began to leak just as I after I gave it...

Re: Working JCB 3

Hi Morgan. Love your JCB 3. Are your rear wheels correct? or are they off a 3C?, as I have a pair of JCB 3 wheels in very good condition you can have. I have no use for them. They don't have the reinforcing webs across the middle, and were originally on my Chaseside LM700, again a Fordson Major skid...

Re: Weatherill

Certainly an inspiring restoration. I've got the mag and read the article. It puts my attempt to shame. However mine is hopefully going back to work for a living. Although it won't be working very hard, it will be invaluable for what I have to do.

Re: Chaseside

I reckon it must be an LM500. The rear weights are a little different, not so large as mine. My Chaseside is progressing at long last. Bonnet was in a hell of a state. I had to cut the front out as it had been welded up as was when flattened by the demolition work. It still looks as though its come ...

Thwaites Alldig Spares

Hi. Having problems with the Perkins Perama engine of my mates Alldig. Has anybody out there got, or know of, either a complete 3 cylinder engine, or a cylinder head for one at the very least. Having filled the sump and most of the rest of the engine with water via a very leaky head gasket, they the...

Re: Chaseside

Earlier in this posting I posted a photo of the Chaseside my mate restored. The photo shows it loaded ready to make the trip to Wales, and after its restoration at Carmathen. Martyn What a fantastic restoration! So far on mine, I've rebuilt the front axle, new bushes and kingpins, sorted out the star...

Re: Chaseside

Hi Javier. I am at present restoring a similar machine. I am sure I will be able to help you. Firstly the machine in your picture seems to be in a very original condition, the cab is reasonably sound, it still has headlights, and you have at least one badge. My bonnet has been seriously dented, whil...

Re: Thwaites Alldig

As suggested I went to Perkins. They only supply engines up to and including the exhaust manifold. So I went to Thwaites, and they can possibly supply one. The big drawback is they will have to get it made by their supplier, as its been a few years since they had one. Kinda puts the price into a sil...
