Re: Yet another unidentified Dumper.
The wording on the side of the skip says 'JENNINGS' a prominent house builder to this day. The landrover running gear is an interesting lead, I'll check that one out. Since the only other one like this I've seen was also in Australia and of course oldtime has one in Canberra, maybe this was an Austr...

Re: Yet another unidentified Dumper.
Thanks guys, Yes it is all wheel drive, transmission is a bit noisy in low gear but it works fine. There are the remains of seat adjustment rails under where the fuel tank is now situated but to be honest that might be a bit far back for comfort even though I am over 6 foot. I think originally the t...

Yet another unidentified Dumper.
Hi all, I picked up this dumper from a caravan park here in Sydney and it's been an absolute godsend on our 5 acre property. We use it as a big wheelbarrow for firewood etc and through the winter months I've had it up to the axles in the swamp fetching firewood etc. Starts first crank every t...

Re: JCB 3DMKll
Finally got round to doing some more work on this project after a load of 'real work' got in the way. Just waiting for some final bits now such as radiator hose, fan belt etc then turn the switch & cross fingers  I've never seen one of these assembled in the flesh so it's been a jigsaw ...

Re: JCB 3DMKll
Some progress with the 38TD engine over the last few weeks, mainly getting things together. Bought the rebuild kit with all the gaskets, 4 new pistons with rings, 4 cylinder liners, new bearings all along the crankshaft (which is still away being ground - a story in itself!) also 1 new conrod becaus...

Re: JCB 3DMKll
Thanks Dave,
Martyn I think I got a little muddled - the long cylinders I was referring to were on what was labelled a 3DMK2, I think it was by CJM plant 22/6/09. From what you are saying that (or at least the lift arms) must have been a much later machine.

Re: JCB 3DMKll
Thanks for the welcome guys! Martyn - I saw the pics of Mike's 3DMK2 - excellent work! With my untrained eye I could spot a couple of differences to mine, namely the bucket cylinders, most other machines have a long cylinder running the length of the lift arm but mine are short & stumpy. What's ...

Re: New Members - please introduce yourself
Hi all, greetings from Wyong NSW My name is Tim. Originally I wanted a steam portable engine or a steam roller for a restoration project, this of course had to go through the usual scrutiny of 'er indoors' and it was decided that although pretty, once restored steam engines don't actually do an awfu...

Re: JCB 3DMKll
I'm on the New South Wales Central Coast, a town called Wyong. Sounds like a broken spring I know but it is a real town! The pic with the 35 was during a prolonged head scratching period, as you can see the back of the JCB is in a drainage gully and the 35 had said 'No way!' to pulling it out - main...
