Re: jcb problems

Hi, Just a thought. If the oil level, filter and suction strainer are OK it might be worth checking the suction hose which feeds the pump. I have known these collapse internally and restrict the oil supply. Layers in the hose can de-laminate and close, block, the pipe internally cutting off the oil ...

Re: Classic pictures Updated 31/07/2021

Thanks all. When I enlarged the photo I could make out the Allis Chalmers. Where would they have been built, especially with an AEC engine. Powerful loader for the day. Hi Pete, Your comment led me to do some research and I discovered that the TL loaders and other Allis track loaders were built for...

Re: Classic pictures Updated 31/07/2021

What is the loader in the last photo? Looks a bit dangerous without some form of op cab. Allis Chalmers. DFCC159B-F3A5-41B1-8576-F1DFA8C7B275.jpeg  Yes, I think it's a TL14 or TL20 . We had a TL20 way back in the late 1960s. Good loader powered by an AEC engine, (I think it was an AEC 690 ...

Re: 3C hydraulics not responding

Great that it was a simple fix...Don't know why JCB felt the need to have freshly poured oil going through the filter in the 3C3,unless taking out the bypass valve. Don't recall it like that in the MK2 and the 3CX is certainly straight into the tank. Hi, I just noticed your comment and I cant say I...

Re: Classic pictures Updated 17/04/2021

Nice pics Steve :claphands: the first one is one of the FAI built Hymac machines built while Hymac was under the Brown ownership, like the truck mounted Poclain as well. Jeremy Hi Jeremy, I think the truck mounted excavator you like and the wheel-mount in the next pic. are not Poclain, bu...

Re: Trencher Identity

Hi Paul, I have never seen that Barford backhoe attachment. Unusual to see it mounted on a Nuffield Universal tractor. The Fordson Major seemed to be used for almost everything back in the day. The only one of the ditch cleaners I knew of was the side arm Barford Lincol machine mounted on the David ...

Re: Classic Truck Concrete Mixers

In the very first of Yewmans mixer pics the mixer has a very square shaped rad cowl , I wonder if this is Fordson or not. Probably never know without brochure but they do seem to be the 'standard' mixer donkey engine. Craig Hi Craig, It is a Ford 4D engine. If you magnify the last but one pic. X 4 ...

Re: Classic Truck Concrete Mixers

Hi Paul, I think I can help identify the donkey engine I worked on enough of them. I can tell from the exhaust and inlet manifolds and the relative positions of the starter and dynamo shown in the pic. that it's a ford 4D also fitted to the Fordson major tractors of the day and a multitude of compre...

Re: Dumper restoration

Now that my AVA1 is running I noticed that there was no oil circulating up from the oil filter assembly via a pipe up to the rocker box. I thought it was probably choked up with oil sludge so I dismantled the filter housing and cleaned all the compartments, pipes and pressure reducing valves. I che...
