Re: New to the Site and in need of lots and lots of Help!
If that old machine is up and running, i would power wash it and sell it on for at least double what you paid for it before it breaks down and costs you dear!!! I would then go out and buy an early 3CX with the pallet forks that you want attached, extra dig would be an advanage so would a 4in1, but ...

Re: JCB's and the law on the road
When you phone for a quote, tell them its a classic tractor, otherwise they will insure you for a modern comercal use digging machine! You have to agree a value of your digger/tractor, they may ask for you to email them a photo-but will issue you a policy in the meantime The insurance for 3rd party ...

Re: JCB's and the law on the road
You can tax it in the "limited use" class, which is free but can only travel less than 1.5km on the road.
I use Footman James to insure old tractors and jcb's for insurance driving on the road. But not for working on the road. You can use the machine for own use only.

Re: JCB 3 digging performance
Thats quite a big bucket to be digging into hard clay! I would try the smaller bucket and use that one after to move the spoil and load trailers etc.
Or you could try changing/adapting you digging technique to dig in layers til you get to the dept you want

Re: Black cab 1987 3CX advice please
First thing i would do, is to change the engine oil and filter, cheap service that will stand you well. I wouldn't worry about the brakes if your not going on the road. As its not a turbo model, you wont have much speed in 3rd & 4th gears, so nothing wrong there Look for a plant breakers for the...

Re: JCB 3CX - Only one movement at a time, is my pump shot?
How is the front loader power? Are you giving the engine a good half rev or more? At aRound idle you will have very little power. Is it warmed up ok? I let my 3cx 10 minutes or more before putting it to work I would not advise lifting the machine off the ground with the back actor, its an old machin...
