No need to answer this now (unless you can add anything) as today I removed the bellhousing and found that the camshaft gear has the drillings in the end to mount the drive extension and so I just have to swap casings which is as easy job.

Petter engines
Good afternoon all. My dumper has a PH1 engine and the drive from it comes to the chain driven gearbox comes via an extension of the camshaft. I have acquired a PH2 engine which I would like to shoehorn in. (to get more umphhh) This PH2 has a conventional clutch and bellhousing arrangement and the d...

Thwaites Orion gearbox
Good evening all. My old Thwaites Orion gearbox needs surgery as it's making metal in the oil. It's an old chain driven one which is the Newage CM model. Nothing is available from Newage except seals and bearings (which are fine as I changed them years ago) so has anyone got a scrap box or, better s...

Mitsubishi K3D
Just a quick question. Does anyone know if this engine has a rubber timing belt or chain? I've been tightening the alternator belt on mine today and suddenly wondered about it, quite why I've never thought about it before after about 8 years of ownership is beyond me! If it's a rubber belt then I be...

Re: swopping a Petter PH2 for a lister ST1
What's their respective BHP's? One thing that maybe awkward would be taking the drive from the engine. My Thwaites Orion with PH1 takes the drive to the gearbox/clutch from the engine camshaft and not the crankshaft. Swapping an engine onto my Orion that only had provision for crankshaft coupling wo...

Re: V8 FORDSON POWER MAJOR
I remember that the clutch springs were colour coded .I think heavy duty are blue. Martyn Something similar on Masseys I think, not only are the springs coloured, but the quantity of them used varies too. The British Farming Forum has a vintage bit that has one or two knowledgeable regulars, I'd su...

Re: V8 FORDSON POWER MAJOR
Yes it will probably be ok to use the dual clutch but there is always that one time when you want to see what it will do. And what it will do is explode the clutch into many parts as you will have about 95 more horses going through it if it is a standard v8 perkins, more if a turbo.Be good to see s...

Re: V8 FORDSON POWER MAJOR
I would go along with Ken on that,I would not use a duel clutch on this engine modification. Please post photos on this interesting project  Martyn That would depend on what you had in mind for the tractor after the modification. If you wanted to start pulling 6 furrow ploughs or going tra...
