Re: Fowler Challengers

G 'Day mine has a winch on the back, was going to take it off but i heard they were a bit front heavy so i left it on to balance it so the back don't rear up. on the power side of things, if you can get hold of a leyland 680, put that in to boost your low down. i've got a horizontal 680 which i want...

Re: Fowler Challengers

i agree with reverse being too fast, and not enough guts up hill in reverse. are these pics from your spare parts machines. do you have one running?

Re: Fowler 3

G'Day,
nice pic's, there's one thing though that i noticed with cable blades on youtube, they would be a bit unsteady, and rock side to side a bit.making it harder to do roads on slopes. my challenger is hydraulic, but it's slow so i guess it's a early one, but it does the job.

Re: converting a leyland horizontal to a vertical

G'Day
Thanks for that info fred, i have a early 600 leyland from a challenger 3, and i'm looking at buying a bus with a 680, which more than likely would be a horizontal, so i want to put it in the dozer to give it a bit more low down as we live on steep country.

Re: converting a leyland horizontal to a vertical

Thanks, as far as i know, the blocks should be the same, but sometimes manufacturers like to throw a spanner in the works by changing a few little things, that's why i was hoping someone has tried it and would know if there are any problems, if i get round to doing it i'll post it on here so others ...

Re: Fowler Challengers

G'Day Lex, sounds like age getting to it, i think. mine really needs a bit of work to it as well, but it all costs money. Hope you get it going soon, like Paul said, people might be interested in a few pic's. They are a front heavey machine, thats why i leave the winch on so it can balance out. The ...

Re: Fowler Challengers

Welcome Lex, I didn't know there are so many challenger 3's around, specially in one area. Do you plan to get the other 2 going or are they for spares. Have you found them to be very reliable. Does yours have a reduction box, mine don't, so when i go in reverse it feels like i'm doing 100mph, not ni...
