Hi Dylan; must say that I had heard that there would be no working plant field this year, I don't know if anybody else can confirm this? I won't be making the trip down there this year and have my hands full at the moment.

Re: Sad day tomorrow.

Fred,

I am so very sorry to hear this terrible news my condolences to you and your family at this sad time, life can be so very hard for all of us the best we mortals can do is share the good times with the bad and support each other where we can, you are in my thoughts at this time.

Yes the W.H. Malcolm photo  look at the boom fork ends on these 580C machines; this was the early design that gave trouble cracking.

They never used to bother stripping properties out in those days it was more of a case of just whack it down as quick as you can and clear the site; no recycling and also no asbestos survey!

Re: The way we were

Another super period photo :claphands: part of me wishes I could just 'step into it' because it brings back so many memories, not just how work on the high st was once done but seeing good old 'Woolworths' and a high st 'Currys' in the background makes me want to go back in time and have a good look...

Superb pics Steve   the first two on the first lot show Hymac 880 machines  and the 580 in the last photo on the first lot is very interesting in that somebody has stuck a 580C engine canopy on it.

My thoughts too; so much better if only things were like that again.
