Hi tracshovel, that is a rare beast.E.W>Ambrose had a fleet of these 623B/E's untill their sale in 1996 ish.The 623E's weren't in the sale though.I believe these scrapers were sold privately.I saw R Blackwell jnr looking them over.

Yes Roly. That Tidy D8H with ROPS cab and hyd tilt blade was mine. After going to Don Fords sale where the D8's made big money I chanced my hand at Ambrose's sale.It didn't meet it's reserve.(I did price it high as I wasn't that bothered about selling it). After the sale I sold it privatly to some chap called ????Stacey from Essex. He then messed me about for a week trying to borrow money from the bank where they told him it was too old to get finance. At the day of the auction he told me that he was a cash buyer and that my D8 would look very nice in his 'Fleet' of 22A,68A and 66V D8's.After a week of it standing in Ambrose's yard I brought it home again and put Mr Stacey in the 'Tyre kicking, time wasting, gobs*ite' file. :|
I do remember the white 463.was there two of them?

The pic is of the D8 that Mr Stacey couldn't afford. It was taken the day the lowloader took it to the sale.I went on to keep this D8 another five years. It was 68A 2623.I bought it from Jim Cairnes of Leeds.(JPK Plant Hire).I had 2 D8's off Jim over the years and a box.All his Kit was in good order and served me well. This D8 is still going strong.

Hi Nicky,At Ambrose sale the chap that out bid me on the first 463
came over and apologised  you dont get many people
do that,i thanked him and went on to buy one cheaper with better
tyres,he asked me who could tow it home for him,i advised he get
a low-loader as he lived in Kent, towing from Chesterfield he would,nt
have any wheel bearings left,i bought a blue 463 from Don Fords sale
and the only 463 on 23.5x25 front tyres the rest were on 26.5x25,
thought i,d bought a D8k when bidding stalled at 17k but it went on
to make 32k  the last D8k i bought was from Mc,naulty Bros
at Chesterfield when they packed up,it went straight to work at
Bardon Roadstone (Wansford) pushing scrapers till we got it
converted,i,ve been very lucky out of the fourteen D8s that i,ve
owned i,ve never bought a bad one, every one done a seasons work
before any major repairs were needed.

Crickey,I was at McNulty's sale aswell!.Its a small world.I was just mooching at McNulty's sale.I saw that D8K go to you(I didn't know you obviously). It was the best tractor in the yard.I also saw a tidy 631C 65M 5000 series go to Ireland.I had travelled down with John McLaughlin that day to look at a grader.I think he bought it,I can't really remember as it was a long time ago.
