I've passed the former cement works at Weardale many times on my bike and did not realise there was a 988B lurking there, i can imagine how peeved you must have been when when you just missed the D10 on the loader.

Whatever happened to the D11N and D40D's that were in Simpsons yard? Did they get sold on or are they working in the UK somewhere?

Regards

Mike D550 someone had a post on here re uk cat d11s and there was mention that D.G Simpson had gone bust and all plant auctioned off -whatever has happened their yard is totally vacant - there were the 631 scrapers d40s rh30 and old r984 the d11n aswell as 2 liebherr 994 or 992 both backhoes tucked away round the back-one white ex kier the other factory yellow-alll gone -but where????

Today i snapped what remains of Ward Bros plant scammell, as stated the unit is back at their yard awaiting restoration - I believe someone had mentioned that it was near completion??

Hope thats not a photo of the restored Scammell! HaHa :D

Hope the D11 and D40's etc are still in the UK, it would be a shame if they went abroad!

Regards

Most fo the kit form simpsons yard seems to have moved up to eddie wright's yard at willington,
there's definatlely some of the 637's because one's parked on the side of the bottom acces road to yard.

i had heard a rumour that the D11 is in there somewhere, but i havent had chance to go for a wander along the bank top to see whatis in there.

I think the one in the pic may have been bought for spares for the restoration-it is a left hand drive-the original Ward Bros S24 was a right hand drive. Tim

Hello, -well after visiting Eddies yard today I can confirm that the repainted 637 scrapers still live-there was however a nice big pile of chopped up liebherr 992s with both cabs neatly sat ontop-also looks like there may have been some rh30 in that pile too  - the red primer scraper has also shook hands with the gas axe and i noted the collectible ex army trucks simpson owne were unceremoniously dumped at the back of the yard :dizzy: one of the fitters re assured me that one big liebherr 992 or 994 had been sold but from what i can see they were both cut up and no signs of the d11 anywhere??
