Firstly i am glad you are all liking the photos , The JCB hybrid was spotted by a friend we don't know if it was a prototype of some kind as you can all see the mainframe part of the machine including the loader arms front grille seem to be 3C MK1 the front bucket is 3c mk2 and the rear end seems to be either jcb 3 mk2 or 3c mk2 the rear legs are like a 2d or 3 mk2 the cab i just don't know was it a prototype for an even later machine, the lamps on the front of the cab look like 3cx ones, so can anyone at JCB shed anymore light on this one.
Did you all spot the 3c mk with the light bucket and high lift loader arms that machine worked in a coal yard down in Newhaven, the JCB 3D's are all from the early 90's Carey and son had 3 of them working in Uckfield east sussex they had 2 x mk2 and 1 x mk 3 working on a pipeline, the other machine was run by a company called Plumbridge Contractors based down in Brighton, The 3c mk3 belonged to Southern Water and was being used in Hastings, I spotted the very late and very clean 3c mk1 in cyprus it was mint the climate is pretty kind to machines out there the MF50B and 50D machines were also in Cyprus. I still have loads more pictures to scan and as time permits i will put them on here, The John Deere was a pretty rare find down in Lewes on a curbing job in the 90's the other JD and Case machines were in San Francisco in the early 90's. If mr Webmaster is looking in it maybe worth adding a Gallery for Backhoe Loaders , Excavators, Cranes, Dozers. if you go onto the www.lifting-world.co.uk website you will see what i mean they have categorised galleries that work well - just an idea thought!! By the way i am selling quite a few models and at the moment just finished my website which is www.cranesdiggersanddozers.co.uk hopefully if enough people do searches it will climb up the google ladder for all to find at the moment it is difficult but do keep trying, i have also linked my site to this one and of course Matyns Henleys excellent website.

Nice collection of older backhoe photos you have there David. :claphands:

I keep resisting the urge to buy some more models, but people keep bringing new ones out and showing interesting older ones as well.

Added you a couple of links http://tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Models_of_Tractors_and_Plant and on the web site links page at Tractor and Construction Plant Wiki. You can create a page describing your site if you like via the red link (internal link) & add another link from there.

I used to do a fair bit of work on the FORD 136 and 4550 loaders in the early 1980.Nearly all the farmers had one of those machines with "autodig" They main trouble was loader frame cracks.
Another fault use to be loss of slew. The slewmotors has a cast iron seal ring in its base,if cracked you would loose slew.
Great collection of photos

Thanks for photos.
Martyn how did the auto dig work? I remember one working for my Dad for week or so in the days before we had a small digger.

There was a valve in the cab on the lever console.I think it give you bucket crown when the dipper came in.Had to think back as that was 1981 :dizzy: Where has the time gone.My books are buried in boxes that have not seen daylight for 20 odd years

One thing I remembered,we used to have a lot of wear in lever bushes. We used to use nylon tubes from account reels
It worjked a treat
