Did Hymac ever make a mini rubber tyre digger?

This was about to be weighed in to the local recycling yard until I diverted it to my yard. What can I say its got everything I look for in a digger - rust, dirt, missing components. Yes, it ticked all the boxes!

The guy I bought it from simply had lost heart. A bent steering ram, a busted hose on the jack leg and the probable disappearance of 120 litres of hydraulic oil through this very hose. YES, 120 LITRES! He must've had the leaking hose for quite awhile and just drove on. :dizzy: The oil would leak all over the rim and you can see from the picture that the rim is now black with the hardened greasy hydraulic oil.

Anyway, after sourcing a replacement steering ram, replacing the hose and filling up with 120 litres of secondhand (but free) hydraulic fluid the digger is looking to have a much rosier future. However, the steering isnt exactly powerful. In fact its bloody terrible. It does steer but its a hell of a wrestle with the steering wheel to get it to move. Giving the engine more throttle helps it a tiny bit but nowhere near enough. Any suggestions?

Neil, I've since had it fixed. Yes it was the power steering pump. Its running great now. Its based on the Leyland Nuffield skid. Next job is to get the jack leg rams replaced.
