Wainwright`s 2nd RD040.Became to costly & problematic to run,so was stripped of any useable parts.Been sitting here for over a year now.The dump body is in the akerman pic.
The other RD040 that i`ve posted here has been in constant use for a while now, hauling out of the pit.It has no trouble keeping up with the 771D & HD405 climbing out of the hole :D

I`m working at a quarry near Bristol airport for a few days. They have 2 RD040`s,loaded by a Doosan DX420 in about 9 passes.I was loading 1 of them today with a PC210.I lost count after 14 buckets   .
The trucks look well worn but seem to give little trouble.
They also have 1 of our old A40C`s that they brought from us last year for £30K.Its a 2000 model, with Mr Sparkes brought from Foster Yeomans in 2005.It had 13000 hrs on it when i had it late `05.Now has around 18000 hrs with no major problems.

A-B SN 27 tonner, 400 BHP Rolls Royce 8-Cylinder and 6-speed gearbox. Big power for 1958!

The blurb says "Britains most powerful dumptruck" "Built for big shovel loading" - and that is a BIG shovel!

It seems to be working in a Kaolin pit, given the presence of The Monitor to the left of the Caterpillar wheel loader.

That is correct IBH, the truck was one of thirty seven Aveling Barford dumptrucks in the Western Excavating(ECC) fleet at the time, working in the china clay pits in Cornwall. Tim

Hi Dave
just goes to prove that you should always carry your camera with you as i'm not on a lot of sites and so i'm depending on seeing machinery from the roadside.
