Here's a couple shots of our new [to us] New Holland 8040. At home in May they decided it was time to pension off the old Clayson M89 for something with a bit more output.....so this came along. Its an '83 model with a 12 ft cut & 6 cyl Fiat engine....but no a/c so brother was sweating a bit in Aug......or at least on the days it wasn't raining

Hiya Roly,

Yep, David sent away several good 8 ton loads of corn in that one....I was away during corn harvest so father was the No. 1 County pilot.....and by all accounts from brother he'd had just about enough of climbing in and out of the cab, the poor lock & the not-so-synchro box......well he is 74......in fact with us getting the new combine it was the first year he has never cut corn on the farm.

Saying about the County being man enough for the trailer they were selling corn this spring and a neighbour dropped down this bloody great Marshall 12 or 14 tonner for David to fill, of course he filled it brimming over and had the County on its knees moving up to the Dutch barn

Here's some pics of our old M89 going up the road this year

Hi Martin,

Ron's truck was called in to move it for the buyer, they put the header on an ifor williams.
We advertised it in a variety of the classic tractor books and had calls from all over U.K.......then wound the old man up and said he sold it too cheap  .....but he reckoned he'd cut corn with it for over 20 yrs and sold it for £250 less than he paid for it and that in his book was good enough :)
With the way corn prices are going now I don't think you'll see many cheap s/h combines next spring/summer.

Richard
