In 1954 the Govt. of South Australia bought 11 of these machines and this one is still in existance in S.A. not far from the mine site where it worked Radium Hill.

And here a pair of DISTINGTON graders not far from me here in Queensland.

and a CARLISLE I drove in New Zealand in the mid 1950's. The Carlisle was produced as a model 200 and the Distington as a B90 but ALL were license built GALION model 90
The engines in all were the 6 cylinder378 cu.in which I think became the 400 series. Transmission was the "Oliver" 3x2 with two sticks
And there is a little Wakefield not far from me here. I forget the model but the engine is a direct start from the BTD9 and B100. Its just a little thing used on driveway and footpath construction. (forgot the pic)

Amazing how many brands / models were built for a machine type that is not that common in general usage (compared to say a excavator or bulldozer).

There was no difference other than the name-Galion-Distington-Carlisle and Wakefield. I know there is a wakefield thread but I'm here now so- this machine is not far from me and the only mods it has is a nifty side shift added to the blade.

Interesting photos. That little Wakefield would be around the size of the Galion 503/Allis Chalmers DD or just a bit heavier, would it?
