Experience of hydraulic hammers?

Hi everyone!

Time to start using the "Demolition Equipment Attachments" forum! :thumbs_up:

Any experience from hydraulic hammers?
Which makes is good and which should be avoided?

What about Furukawa? IÂ´ve heard that they are one of the best makes on the market. True or false?

Hi Robban,

I have always tried to steer clear of too much hammer work, but have done my fair share of it!!

Not my favourite job I must say, I would have to agree that the Furukawa hammers seem to be pretty good.

It has been my experience that no matter what hammer you use they always seem to end up leaking :dizzy:

Thanks Nick, I knew that I could rely on you!

I donÂ´t like hammers myself, partly because they say that the hammers are tough on the machine and particularly the bushings.
But I like to make money and thereÂ´s a job that includes breaking up a foundation.

Here is a Daewoo Solar 290 with a Rammer Hammer at work on the same job in Plymouth England, Breaking rock for drainage runs.

There is a lot of rock around the Plymouth area and it is hard work for any machine!!

I wasnÂ´t thinking of photos but of your experience of hammers.
But IÂ´m not surprised that you had photos. You must have a real treasure of photos. :thumbs_up:

Anyway, I ordered a Furukawa F5 today. I expect it to arrive here some time next week.
The F5 is almost to big for my machine. Not from a weight point of view but the hydraulic flow from my machine is on the borderline.
This means that the beat frequency will be slightly low but the impact will still be as strong as it can be from an F5. I thought that I can live with a slightly slower hammer if the impact is really strong. Yes, I realize that more impact means more wear in my machine but thatÂ´s a price IÂ´m willing to pay.

You have made a great choice in Furukawa they are in my opinion the Best hammer you can get!!

Reading the comments about hydraulic hammers especially with regards to machine wear I was wondering what people think about Hydraulic Transverse Cutting Units such as those produced by Terex-Schaeff as an alternative to hydraulic hammers?
